Kara Balkus has spent 23 years working in the field of Education. This will be her fifteenth year working in the Title I program at Salisbury Elementary School. Before becoming certified as a Reading Specialist, she was a classroom teacher in both fifth and sixth grade. She is a Wilson certified Dyslexia Practitioner and holds a Master's degree in Reading from Salem State College. This is Kathleen Orroth's third year on the Title I team. Prior to working in Title I , she was a Kindergarten teacher, first Grade teacher and a Reading Recovery teacher here at Salisbury Elementary School. In fact, she has been teaching at SES for 23 years! Kathleen holds two Master's Degrees, one in Reading and in Elementary Education. Kathleen is an avid reader and has belonged to the same book club for over 20 years. She also enjoys spending time with her two twin daughters who just started high school this year! Katelyn Dion

Katelyn Dion is another Title I reading specialist that rejoined our team last year. Katelyn worked in Title I during her first four years at SES and then taught on the second grade team for four years. This is her tenth year at SES and her eleventh year of teaching. She holds a Master’s degree in Reading and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and English from Gordon College.
